About

The Who

Hello! I'm Emily and I am a photographer. I started snapping in 2010 when I hijacked my parents' point-and-shoot and haven't stopped since. A year later, I got my very own camera for my 18th birthday, and now I currently use a Canon DSLR.

I love love love natural light and my photography style is best described by this quote from Leonardo da Vinci-

"simplicity is the ultimate sophistication".

A few random facts about me

  • I am a self-proclaimed peanut butter connoisseur
  • A life goal of mine is to learn all the piano music/themes from British period dramas, like Pride & Prejudice, North & South, and Downton Abbey
  • A couple of my favorite places to shop are J. Crew and Anthropologie. Meaning I either dress like The College Prepster or a boho hippie. Or some days a combination of both

The Why

Why do I make art with my photography? Because I was made in the image of my Creator.

"So God created human beings in His own image. In the image of God He created them; male and female, He created them."
Gen. 1:27

The Ultimate Creator made us in His image, a reflection of Himself. Thus, we create art that reflects the glory back to Him.

My art comes in many different forms, but it my art, nonetheless. But really, none of it is mine.

The kindness and love I show to people, doesn't originate with me (and on some days, neither does my patience). My photography, though it is my photography, isn't mine. It is merely my interpretation of creation. I didn't create the flower, I only capture its image. Neither did I create the person smiling back at me. My photograph attempts to show their beauty, a glimpse of who they are. It is my art, but it is not mine.

This blog is merely another form, another outlet of my art. I hope to use my words as well as my photographs, to show art, to show my personal reflection of The Creator.
